I was born and raised in Alabama, where my love of books began very early. Before I could even walk, my grandmother was already instilling in me a deep appreciation for reading. She and my grandfather were the first to take me to get a library card, a moment that still feels special to me, and they filled my childhood with stories, book subscriptions, and regular trips to libraries and bookstores.
One Christmas, when asked what I wanted, my answer was simple: books. Nothing else.
That love followed me into school, where English and literature were always my strongest subjects. I remember every English teacher and librarian who encouraged me, guided me, and made space for my curiosity. Their influence shaped not only the way I read, but the way I listen to a story and pay attention to the small details that make writing feel alive.
Today, I’m a wife of sixteen years (and still going strong) and a mother of four, and books are still at the heart of our home. My husband and children share my love of reading, and stories continue to be something we return to again and again. When I’m not reading, I’m usually writing, most often romance, sometimes fantasy, always with a focus on character and connection.
You can almost always find me somewhere between the pages, drawn to the comfort of familiar stories and the excitement of new ones. That lifelong relationship with books is what guides my work as a proofreader: careful, thoughtful, and rooted in respect for an author’s voice and intent.
“For writers who care deeply about their stories.”
